What if you were consecrating and blessing every place you set foot on? Skate- boarding’s accessibility gives purpose to and brings life to a range of environ- ments, especially if those places are overlooked, perhaps neglected environments that are not frequented by many.
Whether you are seeking to understand more about life or skateboarding, there are many ways to pray and play, worship and practise. Some may prefer a purpose built environment, while others may prefer to develop through their own interactions and exploration of the world. Regardless of what one has preference for, all locations can become the altar or dedicated and devoted space to express and explore one’s inner and outer world.
Who would’ve ever thought that skateboarding had the power to consecrate environments and make them a pilgrimage site for other skateboarders far and wide? Any place, any time, Skateboarding is an act of self-cultivation, co- ordinating body, mind and spirit and connection to your board and the world around.
The world is your skatepark just as the world is your sacred site. Keep an open mind and think outside the box.
