then you know the feeling of elation when you take that first ride. I could go on and on about things within skateboarding that bring you joy (the smell of fresh grip tape on a new deck, returning from a heavy session and the look on someone’s face as you pump furiously down the sidewalk). The truth is that when you’re an older skater, you’ve made a firm decision to act a little differ- ently. I know that in California there are many skategeezers, so we have to ac- knowledge that fact. But for most of the other parts of the world, if you’re older than 30, you are seen as a bit of an anomaly.
I think the best way to understand what I am trying to say is that you’re prob- ably never going to find a book with the title Badminton, Death, Dying and Spir- ituality but I’d be stoked to come across one.
