Skating for Passion and Purpose
There are times in our lives where we may ask some of life’s big questions, like “why am I here?”, “what’s my purpose in life?”, or “what’s the meaning of life?”. The quest for meaning and purpose behind life and existence itself isn’t so clearly defined and it is something that we all seek out to discover. We are by nature, expansive beings seeking to constantly evolve, so it isn’t a matter of something to attain or achieve and all aspirations are finished, but rather it is a continual process that keeps on progressing and growing.
If we were not interested in expanding our experience and personal growth, we would happily settle to remain in the one fixed position. However, we learn, adapt, grow and change. It is the culmination of the passion and pur- pose, finding meaning in and connecting to what we do, that drives us to con- tinue to want to live and learn more. Like in skateboarding. I’m sure that everyone can relate to the very first time that they stepped on their skateboard. Learning to stand on the board was a challenge in itself. Gradually as you learnt to balance, you learnt to take your first few pushes, develop your com- fort in rolling, going slow, going fast, maybe learning to manipulate and move your board, followed by tic-tac, kickturn, carve, ollie, acid drop, drop in, wha- tever you want and however you like it.
