There is a great deal of talk these days about mental health issues. Back in 1975, when I started skateboarding, topics like depression and anxiety were not discussed publicly. Over the past 45 years or so, there has been a change. But there is still much work to do. His devotion to magic kept the demons and issues that plagued Bill at bay. But sadly, these problems will not magically disappear on their own by sheer force or evasion. I’ve often said that skate- boarding provided me (and still provides me) with both a creative and emo- tional outlet.
