When I think about my time in the skate industry, I have to be honest when it comes to assessing how things went. I made thousands of decisions in almost 25 years. From the decision to write a piece on my skateboarding experiences for the Dansworld website to eventually letting go of the magazine, I can say there were only a few things I regret doing or not doing. Thankfully, with the passage of time, the sting of these regrets has either faded out or disappeared entirely.
When I look at the decisions I’ve made throughout my 50-plus years, I am proud to say that I rarely stand near the baggage carousel.
As you wander into the worlds of death and dying, you may very well en- counter the “R” word. Regret is a double-edged sword. Sometimes, it is the path NOT taken that makes all the difference in the world.
I think this quote from William Shatner is probably the best way to look at re- gret. “Regret is the worst human emotion. If you took another road, you might have fallen off a cliff. I’m content.”
