THE ENDLESS WAVE | PART ONE
One of the best things about skateboarding at my age is that most young people don’t perceive me as a skater. Like pretty much everyone, they judge a book by its cover. I am proud of the fact that I don’t look like a skater but still have the mentality of a skater. Sure, I don’t have the same abilities as I once had, but I am still down to skate and do it at every opportunity I can find.
The same thing happens when I discuss spirituality. I have spent a lot of time researching things like chakras, but I don’t look like the type of person who would do this. I know that sounds pretty prejudicial, but prior to December of 2010, I was very judgmental of people who mentioned the word chakras. I thought it was woo-woo.
It is this feeling of non-judgment that is the best approach when it comes to spiritual matters. There are dozens of modalities or paths within spiritual experiences. It all comes down to what really resonates with you personally. You have to be honest with yourself, and this can be difficult. I sincerely hope that as Nathan and I journey together in a voyage of discovery we will be able to accomplish more than if we’d done it alone. I feel comfortable questioning everything but will also acknowledge when something has moved me to say, “Wow!”
A few people ask if I’ve seen ghosts or spirits either at the funeral home or in the back of the coach. The short answer is no. The longer answer is still no.
