THE ENDLESS WAVE | PART TWO
Different Styles, Different Smiles
The many different styles of skateboarding could be likened to the di- verse options in religions that people can choose from. In religion and skateboarding, each has their own distinctive focus and features that set them apart.
Religion presents this through differences in lifestyle, beliefs, values, cele- brations and rituals. Religions have an influence on their followers by encour- aging them to engage in certain practices such as periods of fasting, prayer and worship and feature a calendar that influences their time dedicated to their path and everyday living.
The different styles of skateboarding can be defined through the different kinds of skateboards, tricks, terrain and places to skate and the type of skating that you enjoy will most certainly influence your lifestyle. Skateboarding doesn’t have any rules as such, however the different styles of skating can def- initely have an impact on how you plan out your time.
For instance, if you’re into skating transitions and parks, you might head to the skatepark early in the morning at the crack of dawn or spend hours upon hours at the park or ramp. Or if you’re a street skater, you might have certain spots that you can skate, like business and industrial districts and school yards outside of hours, on weekends and public holidays.
