THE ENDLESS WAVE | PART ONE
The Real Bucket List
Most likely, you’ve heard about the bucket list — the list of things that people wish to accomplish before they die. Many of these lists con- sist of visiting specific places and doing special things. They can range from the pretty cool (hold a shark in Hawaii) to the completely ridicul- ous (hold a dangerous snake around your neck...I assuming in Hawaii)
I encourage everyone I know to make a bucket list. Skaters worldwide have numerous places and experiences that they could add to such a list. Just as a start, consider the following: hit the ditches of New Mexico, visit the skate- parks of Colorado, and take part in New York’s Broadway Bomb.
I think a bucket list is something that, for most people, is aspirational and exciting but can also be financially challenging. I am here not to burst your bubble. I merely want to point out that sometimes life gets in the way of your plans.
As I write these words, I hope I’ve got just under four more years of full-time work. I say hope because you never know what could happen. I have my health, but I don’t have the finances to fully retire. I know I’ll get there soon because I realize it’s a marathon, not a sprint. I have some key places I’d like to visit with my wife, but I am well aware of the fact that we BOTH have to be in good shape to accomplish them. So while I’ve been working, I’ve been fo- cusing my attention on the real bucket list.
